When I first read WOO-HOO's (SALLY CHEESEMAN) "challenge" she sent members of her group, POSITIVE ATTITUDE for the weary soul , asking us to write a post about "WHY I LOVE MY PROFESSION," I knew it would be fairly easy. In fact, it's the first line on my PROFILE PAGE here in The Rain. So, I'll take the challenge and elaborate a tad more. (I won't, however, read any other "Challenge" posts until I post mine).
Like my profile says, I love my career (profession)! Real Estate has blessed me with new friends over the years, as I helped people through the home selling and buying process. I can honestly say, I am really very fortunate. Meeting new people always has a way of opening other doors. One person, one event, leads to another, right? That pretty much sums up my entire life.
Over my 11 years in Real Estate, I have met MANY people, shown MANY homes, written MANY offers and closed MANY escrows. Now I am NOT tooting my own horn, that's just how it is in this business. That's what we (I) do. We need people to buy or sell to make our business grow. Without them we're not actually in the Real Estate business. And though all those escrows and closings WERE exciting and gave me a wonderful, financial boost, the most exciting thing for me has always been meeting new clients. Then, getting past those first few awkward moments. Then getting them into my car and starting out on a home buying adventure to help them find that "perfect" cabin" in the woods.
I've always been more of a "Buyer's Agent" verses, Listing Agent. I didn't plan it that way, nor do I have a
little emblem on my business card saying I am an EXPERT at working with buyers. Nope, that's not who I am. Instead, I think I have subconsciously guided my Real Estate path in that direction. And I'm glad I did. Because if not for helping people find their dream home or get-a-way cabin, I would have missed out on many friendships. For that I am blessed.
...and then came The Rain; Active/Rain, that is. I don't even have to sell a home to these fine people (yes, we do push our business here). I just contribute a few words here and there...share a few stories...leave comments when I have something to say...and friendships are made. Kind of like a baker who doesn't measure, but instead, tosses a few fine ingredients in the bowl and volia'; you have yummy cake (friendship).
We can have all the money in the world, the best career or education, but neither are important without loved ones/friends!

put the words I LOVE MY PROFESSION BECAUSE in your tags and when people click on it it'll take you to the page with all the other ones from last year and now too!
Kat: There is no doubt in my mind that you love what you do. Throughout all your trials and tribulations you remain....a wonderful professional and great blogger for our industry too!
Glad you love your job. Thanks for sharing your story.
Woo-Hoo: Thank you so much. Your kind words MEAN a lot to me because, IT TAKES ONE, TO KNOW ONE, I say! Thanks, my friend.
Brad and Angela: I do, I really do...even the rough times, bring good things, if nothing else but some kind of lesson.
Thank you for reading my post and commenting!
Thanks You Who... for the tag from Woo Hoo...! I enjoyed reading your story, it's obvious you are good at what you do Kat, because you are definitly a people person, with honesty and integrity! I'll be posting mine later this week, so you can see why I love my work so much! ;)
Michelle: I am looking so forward to reading yours! Thanks, also, for being your usual kind self!
I love the analogy of the experienced baker with a little bit of this and a little bit of that - and voila! :-)
Liz: LOL Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to read my post.
Kat - wonderful post about all the things you are blessed with. We all need positive affirmations in our lives. Great job once again Kat!!!!!
Kat,
It's obvious you love your profession. Thanks for such a positive post and reminder of the great reasons we do what we do.
I love reading all of these wonderful stories about why people love what they do! Before I read another one, I think I will take the time to write my own!
I think Warren Buffett said it best earlier this year when a book was published about him:
"I know people who have a lot of money, and they get testimonial dinners and hospital wings named after them. But the truth is that nobody in the world loves them. When you get to my age, you'll measure your success in life by how many of the people you want to have love you actually do love you. That's the ultimate test of how you've lived your life."
Of course, there might be a lot of people who actually do love him because he's got lots of money and they hope to inherit a small piece of it someday, but nonetheless, his words ring true.
Good Morning Kat! You did a fantastic job on this and after getting the opportunity to build a friendship with you here and to learn more about the person you really are, it's so easy to say that your profession loves you as well.
Kat - As usual, you are a very unique take on your profession that sets you apart from the pack. You are special. Thanks for sharing!
Kat, As you know I posted my reasons. BTW, you did not re-tag me... must have been my cyber twin LOL. I loved this challenge. I think it's inspiring to read why we all love what we do and it just makes me that much more thrilled to be involved in AR. Thanks for playing tag with me!
Sharon: Thank you so much!!! You always say the right thing!
Christine: I really do! It's been good to me...bringing great people into my life.
Barbara: I'm looking forward to reading yours!
Russel: Warren is a special person and I bet he has tons of wonderful people who really love him for himself. Thanks for sharing Warrens words.
Julie: What a wonderful thing to say! Thank you, my friend.
Bobby: DITTO, my friend, DITTO!
Cat: It really was/is a great challenge, especially in these hard times. It's good for us to keep in mind why we went into this business and HOW is has affected is in a positive way. Thanks, CAT!
So true Kat. I am amazed at some of the people I meet, very different walks of lives and very different up bringings, only to find that there is common ground and a little bit of understanding of people.
Kim: I find all people have something special and amazing about them. And thank goodness we're all so different. How boring would it be if we all had the same thoughts and ideas.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
P.S. Your Mexican lunch on tour last Thursday was GREAT!
Kat- I used to love being a Buyers Agent, then somehow I ended up with 75% Sellers and only 25% Buyers. I'm not sure which one I like more, but it's an interesting concept.
Kathy: I'd say I'm just the opposite; 25% Sellers, 75 Buyers%. Like I said, I didn't/haven't done it purposely... just kind of happened that way. Thanks, my friend, for stopping by.
Kat- One thing I love about my proifession is flexibility, especailly when working with Sellers...how about lunch on Tuesday...I'll drive up there :)
Kathy: YES, to lunch. You sure you want to drive up? That'd be great!!! You like Mexican food?
I love Mexican Food....So we're good to go 12:30 on Tuesday.....tell me where.
SUPER!!! WINDERMERE'S (where I work) OFFICE. Hwy 18 to Daley Canyon....straight thru Blue Jay. Where the old Ice Castle used to be.
Ok...backtract I am coming from Banning....so go to road in Yucaipa? Is that the 18? Guess I'll have to Google it :)
You'll end up on the 215 east, which will take you to Mountain Resort (turn off), "Waterman," left, which will lead you right up the 18 (Waterman turns into 18). Blue Jay zip is 92317, not the San Bern...that google says
Kat....sounds good see you Tuesday :)
