You can turn the TV channel to 10 different stations and get 10 different reports about the economy--either local or worldwide. BUT the real way we can tell HOW "our" economy is doing is to look in our own back Yard ... TAKE A DRIVE! I had to go to my mother's yesterday, some 75 miles from my place and I drove through many BIG cities/counties. I was able to view MANY malls and PARKING LOTS from the highway. I CAN honestly say, they (parking spots) were FULL! Okay, so maybe everyone was out doing the "walking the mall" for exercise thing....
But then, I picked up my Mom and we drove to one of her local (BIG) discount stores and also to CostCO. BOTH, I tell you, BOTH, were loaded with cars. And the folks strolling out of the stores had shopping carts buldging over the sides with goodies. I glanced at my Mom and said, "Is this the bad economy the media is always screaming about?"
I THINK not. The economy is what it is, and people are more conservative right now than they may have been before. But, I don't think the economy is heading south at a fast pace as I heard this AM on the news.
Foreclosures are still a problem, but we knew that was coming with all the naughty loans people were getting. The market --several years ago--was a runaway train and it had to be stopped. So it was. Now, we just have to be patient and wait until people get their nerve up and put on their thinking caps and jump back into the Real Estate game....BECAUSE this is a GREAT TIME to BUY!!!
and that is my dimes worth this Monday MORNING!

I have boycot the national media. They are so focused on a recession that they can barely bring themselves to report anything else. I am sick to death of this attitude and have chosen to eliminate their negativity from my life!

I too think those on the national side have nothing positive to say....because that is not news.....
Each area has its own issues, and being a positive spokesperson is key to keeping the movement going.
Kat, they're all crazy. Nothing but negativity. Even the papers! Every now and then, a faint glimmer of good news..........I actually saw that in the paper a couple of days ago. Wow!!! Who knew?
Kat, You speak with great wisdom and I fully agree with you. People always seem to have money for all the extras in life, so things can't be that bad.
