Papoose Lake, on the northeast side of Lake Arrowhead (across from the Arrowhead Lake Association/marina), came about after a study found that Arrowhead Dam could possibly be unsafe if we suffered an earthquake of a 6.5 magnitude or higher. This was brought about after 1971 Sylmar Earthquake, which caused damage to the Van Norman Dam. A seven million dollar bond was passed, paid for by Arrowhead Woods property owners and... here we are today. Read so much more history here.
