If you have never been to GREEN VALLEY LAKE, then you've been missing a tiny treasure tucked away in the San Bernardino Mountains. With a population of approx 800 folks (living there year round), it really is all about "small town atmosphere." People spend their summer months on the lake, which by the way, is an easy walk to from almost any cabin or home. The fishing is great!!! Just ask a local. Winters give way to cross country skiing and, if you want to hit the slopes, you only have a short drive back to highway 18 and head up to Snow Valley or Big Bear. which is a hop, skip and a jump away.
Elevation is around 7,200 elevation and that usually means that they get quite a bit of snow in the winters. Some of the activities that one can do in warm weather months, besides the fishing, is hiking on many of the beautiful trails, bird watching and horse back riding... OR plain old relaxing!
Green Valley Lake is man made (in 1926) and is approx nine acres in size. It is regularly stocked with Bass, Catfish, and Crappie. A record rainbow trout was caught and weighed in at 13 lbs & 3 ounces. You can put a small boat in the lake, but no biggies.
Summer temps are usually around 80 degrees and winter temps may hover at 15 or so. Check here for current Weather.
Even though it is small, Green Valley Lake has a general store, restaurant (love the veggie burgers there), post office, cabin rentals and boat facilities.
(if I am not mistaken, the entire town is for sale)...and if you're interested, you know who to call; KAT!
Location: Take Highway 18 past Running Springs, and look for the sign. Follow it four mile.

Hi Kat, You are right - I used to go to Green Valley Lake often when I lived in SoCal, and it is lovely. We nave some nice lakes up here too - like Tahoe. When the weather is nicer I'll be heading up there a lot. It makes a nice day trip.
