Lake Arrowhead Mechanics ~ The Car Dr. My Subaru Goes too

Your Lake Arrowhead Realtor would like to share some local Lake Arrowhead Information with you.

It's a question I get quite often, after the initial "what is your favorite restaurant."  Do you have mechanics up here? Do we? We have plenty. There really is very little we're missing on our mountain... but this post is about Car Doctors.

My family and I moved here in 1991 and I have taken my car/s to the same mechanic ever since. My Subaru gets its check ups, tire care and oil changes at DAVE'S VIKING AUTO CENTER in Rim Forest. Not only is my car always given "special" treatment," but I know I can drop in on Dave's place anytime, any day, if I think something might be "wrong," and he'll have a looksie right there and then.

There are more automotive businesses on the mountain, this is just the one "I go to."

Keep Rim of The World Parks & Recreation Open ~ Vote YES on Measure N

We need the communities help! So when you sit down to fill out your VOTING BALLET, please, PLEASE check YES on Measure N. RIM OF THE WORLD PARK & RECREATION has been a wonderful organization that has helped many families on our local mountain. Even I've used their programs (a class I attended way back in 1993 opened the world of writing to me). For 3 cents a day, we can save our Rim of the World Parks & Rec. Read all about it from the link below. PLEASE! Ballots will be mailed in March and must be mailed in by april 6, 2010.

TOOL & PRODUCT FAIR @ Rim Forest Lumber in Rim Forest, CA ~ June 13, 2009

Rim Forest Lumber was founded in 1947 by Frank Holland. In 1969, Butch Baumann bought the company and has been serving our mountain residents needs ever since.

This weekend, June 13, 2009, come check out the TOOL AND PRODUCT FAIR at Rim Forest Lumber. Now you're probably thinking, what???

Believe me, this little local "fair" is full of fun, food and helpful folks...for you folks thinking about doing some projects around the house. And it IS the perfect time of the year for those projects & Honey-Do lists.

There will be many vendors, food, entertainment (not sure what kind :)), raffle drawings and prizes. Come on by!

RIM OF THE WORLD REC & PARK DISTRICT-Programs for Young & Old (er)...right here in our local mountains.

 THE RIM OF THE WORLD RECREATION & PARK DISTRICT'S (ROWRPD) mission statement is  "To help enrich and fulfill the lives of the citizens through the provision of facilities and programs that will provide and enhance creative, wholesome and imaginative leisure time living patterns."  It's so true!! 

The first time I became acquainted with ROWRPD was in the mid 90's after reading a little ad in the Mountain News Newspaper,  "How to Get Published." The class would be held weekly for a number of weeks and taught by my mentor, Willma Gore. I had always loved writing and thought I'd give it a shot. 

ROWRPD was established in 1985, transferring control of our local recreation facilities from the County of San Bernardino to an independent local district. Some of these include Arrowbear Park Ball Field, Twin Peaks Ball Field/Rotary Centennial Park, Firehouse Play Area, Mountain Communities Senior/Community Center (pic' to right), ROW Recreation and Park District Office (pic above-this is where my class was held) and MORE.

Another helpful program through ROWRPD is the CHILDCARE ACROSS THE MOUNTAIN program with locations from Crestline to Running Springs. Check their the link for prices.

Here is a sample of what is available:

"SPORTS" PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH include Basketball, Soccer, Football, Wrestling, Track and Field and Softball (for girls).

"RECREATION" PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH include: Acting/Drama, Karate and Gymnastics and MANY more!

"ADULT" PROGRAMS" include: English (as a second language), Tennis, Parenting, to name a FEW.

PRICES FOR THESE PROGRAMS CAN BE FOUND ON THE RIM OF THE WORLD RECREATION & PARK DISTRICT'S SITE.
