DOING the OTHER Agent's JOB!

I know, you've all probably experienced this type of an event. But I don't think it hurts to bring it up, AGAIN.  Maybe...just maybe, the few Realtors that behave in this way, will finally recgonize themselves and CHANGE their ways.   YEAH, WE'RE TALKIN' ABOUT YOU!

Yesterday I had a call from a Realtor who represents the buyer of a listing of mine--We're in escrow.  "Hey," she says, "My buyer wants to meet her carpet guy at the house at 5PM, so he can measure the place. I'm going to drop her off, let her in, then have her LOCK up after they're done."   (the home is VACANT).    She, the Realtor, had an appointment to get to after she dropped off her client.  HELLO, isn't her client an appointment?

I told the Realtor NO, that I could NOT allow her client to stay in the house and "lock up" after she is done. I told her I'd go down and wait with her client after she met and let her in. I'd also be there at 5. 

The Realtor didn't even show up at 5PM to let her client in!!!  OR call.   I DID show up, thinking I was just there to lock up in a few minutes...  tick-tock tick-tock. The carpet guy doesn't even show up for 1 1/2 hours! Need-less-to-say, this TICKS me off.

There are many ways to handle this, I'm sure: GIVE the other Realtor a piece of my mind.  Let it go, as she's probably always been this kind of Realtor and ALWAYS will be.   GIVE the other Realtor a piece of my mind.......

Any good suggestions out there or should I just let it roll off like water off a duck's back?

ARE YOU A COMMENTER or POSTER? ...and who cares!

Let's agree that we're ALL bloggers here, right? Maybe not all great bloggers, but if you're in here, signed up and submitted a profile, I think that qualifies you as a blogger. The question is, are you a COMMENTER or a POSTER? Or, BOTH?

As much as I'd like to be a POSTER, I am in all actuality, a COMMENTER. And not a good one at that. I'm one of those folks that leave a sentence or two and duck out. I have to get to the next POSTER's POST to read. There are so many, aren't there? So much to learn.

POSTER: This is someone, I feel, who really contributes on a regular basis. Puts a lot of time, energy and thought into the content of their POSTS. POSTERS have greatly helped many of us with our business by teaching or explaining how we can blog better, prepare our website for maximum exposure, or maybe sharing tech knowledge. Just to name a teenie-tiny few.

COMMENTERS: Are people, like me quite often, who enjoy reading POSTS and then drop a small note of thanks or just give their two cents worth-be it naughty or nice. Some may be too shy to actually POST, or maybe they enjoy reading more than writing.

We're ALL POSTERS and COMMENTERS to some degree. But we're usually more one than the other-I feel.

Who really knows? Who really cares? I just hope AR goes on and on and on.  JUST KEEP BLOGGING! That is what's important.

SUPERSTITIOUS or NUTTY or BOTH?

The (adjective) definition of superstition is: showing ignorance of the laws of nature and faith in magic or chance.

WOW, I feel a little nuttier than usual because I am one of those superstitious-types.I was raised by a VERY superstitious grandmother. IF a black cat crossed in front of our car, grandma would stop in the middle of the road-on a dime-and u-turn it.... She always said, "Never count the cars of a train as they pass before you" (if you're stopped at a RR crossing, waiting). She'd toss the salt over her shoulder....knock on wood and the list goes on.

In Real Estate, I hear about these "beliefs." I have plenty myself and they aren't all related to R.E.

1. I never get out the calculator to figure out my commission on an active escrow UNTIL, maybe-just maybe-the day before closing. IF I did that too early, I just know it would fall apart!

2. Bad karma-Like a speeding boom-a-rang; It'll come right back at ya if you're naughty. Now don't me wrong, bad "stuff" happens sometimes anyway. But I certainly think the former is TRUE.

3. Bad luck: Like a snow ball rolling down a slope; seems to grow and grow. On the flip side, when good luck starts rolling, it's a beautiful thing.

4. I DON'T walk under a ladder.

5. Find a penny...pick it up-you know the rest  

6.IF my left hand itches, I am getting MONEY (I swear this has happened many times. Wish it would happen more often...).

7. IF my right hand itches, I am going to meet and shake hands with someone knew.

8. FRIDAY the 13th? Well, I "think" about it but don't let it stop me from anything.

Now I know these are just what they are: superstitions. Nothing more, nothing less. But we humans are a strange bunch and sometimes get "stuff" stuck in our heads, be it from our childhood environment or "just because."

20/20 piece on TO USE OR NOT USE A REALTOR

Okay, so who watched 20/20 last night? 20/20 June 22 2007    I did, only because I was playing ABC's new National Bingo Game--trying to win $50,000. During a commercial they alerted ME that 20/20 was next...and it was about how sellers could SALE without a REALTOR.  Great, was my first thought!  Another 60 Minutes type Realtor Bashing. 

But, it wasn't quite as bad. John Stossel did point out the other  side of the coin as well. It was, however, more slanted against US.

Do you GET THE POINT/S?

I have noticed in the past week, that a person can obtain, literally, thousands of POINTS overnight by submitting photos on Localism--many were not even taken by the submitter. How is this possible? Is it okay? I've searched through "how to's" and photo articles and tips and in Localism but haven't really found the exact answer to this.  I submit local photos for consumers to enjoy--isn't that the idea?  Not just for points--in fact, I don't think about the POINTS. BUT, if I can GET thousands of POINTS overnight, I want 'em.  What is the secret?

YOU'RE GIVING ME A HEADACHE!

While reading this post  HOW_DO_YOU_SMELL  this  AM, it came to me that a post on "real" smells was in order. You know: nice or stinky ones. I, for one, LOVE the smell of a "lightweight" candle  Candle  or perfume scent. Nothing yummier than walking into a home that has a "soft" fresh citrus aroma.  BUT, I can't be around any "fake" smell  unless I want a whooper of a headache.  I mean within moments. Now, when I find "natural" scents--and I mean REAL natural--I can handle it.   

 And it's difficult to tell our clients, and even fellow co-workers, "WHEW, you're giving me a headache! "

  Any ideas????

 I've Got A Headache

RELOCATING and the local Visitors Center.

When buyers are moving to a new area, they need to gather all the information possible: housing market, schools (if they have children) and general stuff: grocery shopping, churches, parks, etc. I LOVE our local visitors center and before I moved here, it was actually the first place I started my online search. I e-mailed them and soon received a "relocation package," that also included flyers from several local Realtors (a GOOD advertising tool). Our clients can never have enough info...neither can we.TUOLUMNECOUNTYVISITORSCENTER
